Reporting to the Construction Manager, this is a newly created role providing project governance over a portfolio of defence related projects, in conjunction with Project Managers. You will be responsible for further developing Verbrec’s Defence Portfolio and integrating projects under a centralised, coordinated system, and for achieving each projects’ strategic objectives. Your other responsibilities will include:
- Management of personnel and resources across defence programs of work
- Preparing and submitting proposals, in consultation with Estimator, Project Managers and all relevant multi-discipline engineering teams, and aligned to the defence program’s strategic objectives
- Building and maintaining relationships with clients seeking feedback and providing innovative solutions to meet their requirements and deliver improvements;
- Manage multiple concurrent projects across Defence sites, ensuring delivery in accordance with approved scope, schedule, budget, and capability requirements
- Providing clear and effective direction to all project team members,
- Ensuring all aspects of the quality management system are followed
- Manage commercial aspects of the program, including contract administration, variations, claims, procurement strategies, and cost control
- Manage program of works through Verbrec’s financial accounting software, WorkDay
- Management of client WO’s within client software system
- Act as the primary point of accountability for defence program outcomes, including quality, cost, schedule, safety, and client satisfaction
- Monitor performance against KPIs and milestones, providing accurate reporting to senior leadership and clients
- Continuing to demonstrate innovation by identifying and pursuing opportunities aligned to the Business Unit’s strategic direction
- Mentor and develop delivery staff, building sustainable capability within the delivery team
- Focus on continual improvement to streamline processes and optimise efficiencies

This role will be suitable to a candidate from an electrical background who has a high level of attention to detail and can mediate across multi-disciplined teams, including electrical trades in order to achieve agreed objectives.
To be successful you will have:
- Proven ability to successfully manage projects in accordance with industry best practice.
- Nominally 10+ years’ experience in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Automation or Electrical trades
- Significant experience in project management roles.
- Experience in direct supervision of project delivery teams.
- Strong results orientation and a track record of delivering projects on time, on budget and to required quality standards.
